Fanny Hidvégi

Fanny Hidvégi is The Collaborative’s Policy Director. She is an expert in technology policy and civil society leader, with experience spanning roles in Europe and the US. She leads the organisation’s policy and advocacy efforts to shape AI in the public interest, identifying and acting on opportunities for policy interventions, strategic grantmaking, and engagement in key policy fora. 

Ahead of the 2025 AI Summit in Paris, Fanny supported Current AI’s launch, leading government relations work related to this effort, such as the development of “The Paris Charter on Artificial Intelligence in the Public Interest”. In addition, Fanny led efforts to create an inclusive stakeholder consultation for the public interest track and to ensure civil society participation in the Summit process.  

Fanny is a dedicated champion of human rights and promoter of feminist leadership practices. Before joining The Collaborative she led Access Now’s policy and advocacy team in Europe, drove the organisation’s work on artificial intelligence and human rights, and served as interim Policy Director of the global team. Prior to her time with Access Now, Fanny was an International Privacy Fellow at the Electronic Privacy Information Center in Washington D.C. and the head of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information Program for the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union, where she later served as chair of the board. 

Fanny was a member of the European Commission’s High Level Expert Group on Artificial Intelligence, served on the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on Freedom of Expression and Digital Technologies, and on the European Parliament STOA Committee’s International Advisory Board. She is part of POLITICO Tech 28 Class of 2022, an Obama Foundation Europe Leader (‘20), and a Marshall Memorial Fellow (‘23).
