No. We are a small team and do not have the capacity to manage and vet high volumes of funding requests and proposals. As a result we do not accept or consider unsolicited funding requests and proposals.
-
Our decisions about who to support are based on in-depth research and analysis of the field, in consultation with stakeholders across civil society, government, philanthropy, and the private sector. We place a priority on working in collaboration and partnership with other funders, both private and public.
We identify grantees through this research and analysis and accept grant proposals by invitation.
-
You can read more about our approach on Our work.
-
We make both unrestricted and restricted grants, including fiscally sponsored grants and project-based grants.
We also work through contracts for specifically commissioned research, events, or other programmatic deliverables.
We do not invest in companies through equity or debt.
-
We have a global focus, with an emphasis on Europe.

I want to know more about The Collaborative
-
You can read more about our team’s experience.
-
We share examples of our work on our website.
-
AI should be driven by outcomes that matter to people. Those outcomes should be decided on democratically.
We believe strongly in collaboration and seek out partners rather than going it alone.
-
We do not build or develop AI tools directly as a team. We support builders developing and deploying AI for the public interest.
-
Our team is not currently growing. We are intentionally structured to stay small, focused, and with the ability to pivot fast.
If we do have vacancies, we will promote them on this site, through our email updates, and on LinkedIn [ADD LINK].
-
We fund Current AI. Our CEO Martin Tisné is Current AI’s Founder and Board Chair. Our team helped set up Current AI.
You can read more about our work around the 2025 AI Action Summit in Paris and the launch of Current AI in our case study.
-
We are an independent philanthropic organisation, part of The Omidyar Group – a collection of mission-driven, independent organisations founded and funded by philanthropists Pierre and Pam Omidyar.
